A Study on the age, sex and treatment method of Surgically treated periodontal patients

Abstract
For the present study, the chart recordings of 1,108 patients who had been treated surgically during 11-year period from Jan. 1980 to Dec. 1990 in dept. of periodontics, Infirmary, School of Dentistry, Chosun University, were analyzed according to age, sex, and Periodontal treatment method.
Periodontal treatment methods were classified into 1) flap operation, 2) subgingival curettage, 3) gingivectomy, and 4) others including mucogingival surgery etc.
1. In the surgically treated periodontal patients, males(52.17%) were more than females(47.83%), showing the ratio of 1:0.92, and 30¢¥s age group showed the highest distribution(27.35%).
2. The frequency of surgical treatment methods was in order of flap operation (50.72%), subgingival curettage(42.24%), gingivectomy(4.06%), and others (2.98%). 7
3. In the patients treated by flap operation, males were the most in 40¢¥s age group(36.08%), and females were the most in 30¢¥s age group(31.37%).
4. In the patients treated by subgingival curettage, males were the most in 30¢¥s age group(30.89%), and females were the most in 20¢¥s age group(28.83%). JAI
5. The patients treated by gingivectomy were the most in teen-age female (43.48%).
